What is new on the tariffs front?
President Trump threatened Brazil and India with tariffs, effective August 1.
Brazil: Trump announced a 50% tariff on Brazilian goods, escalating from a 10% tariff imposed on April 2, 2025, citing the prosecution of former President Jair Bolsonaro and alleged attacks on U.S. tech companies.
India: Trump threatened a 25% tariff on Indian goods starting August 1, 2025, plus an unspecified "penalty" for India’s trade with Russia for oil and military equipment. This follows a paused 26–27% tariff announced on April 2, 2025.

SPX Technical Analysis
SPX (S&P 500) Update: Can we say a Hammer after a Bearish Engulfing? Ridiculous alternations of bullish and bearish candlesticks continue.
The Hammer was followed in the AH session with a nice pop-up in the futures market.
The McClellan Summation Index (top) is bearish, and so is the McClellan Oscillator (bottom), but the latter is getting oversold.

Consider following me on X (former Twitter) in addition to the newsletter, as I often post valuable information there in real time between the newsletters.
An interesting chart that is self-explanatory.
