There is nothing new that I could say about the state of the markets. Today’s post is about things I wanted to post in the last report, but they could not fit into the weekend report.
Do You Trade News Releases?
I hope not for, except for very nimble day traders. What are the pros and cons?
Pros:
Improved liquidity.
Potential to make quick profits.
Cons:
Increased volatility, which could “hurt your feelings.”
It is hard to “fight” with high-frequency trading machines in fast and volatile markets.
Institutions might be selling the positive news to reduce their inventory, creating seemingly unpredictable stock/index moves.
Not all relevant information is necessarily present in the release.
I understand that most traders lose money trading news releases, although occasionally, one can get lucky for a quick buck.
If one wants to trade the news, it is best to do so once the “dust settles,” allowing one to synthesize the news with other pieces of relevant information to get a more complete picture.
TSLA Technical Analysis
TSLA’s technical indicators do not indicate that the selloff is over.
TSLA touched the upper range of its 20W target but could slide down more within it.
Moreover, it has the 40W target in the 131-165 range.
Patience “grasshopper.”
