Learning About Trading & Investing

Hey Market Timers,

Learning About Trading and investing is a never-ending process, just like in many other fields. In over 30 years of my involvement with trading and investing, I have studied a few dozen books, subscribed to at least two dozen newsletters, and used a dozen different charting software packages.

What is the purpose of such a learning journey?

There are numerous paths to financial success and independence. One approach is to become an expert, conducting your own research and analysis, and managing your investments according to your unique style, age, and risk tolerance. Another is to gain enough knowledge to select whom to follow, reducing your research time and enabling you to make trading and investing decisions. I have used both approaches, with the former prevailing in the last decade. This flexibility allows for a more open-minded and liberated approach to trading and investing.

I selected some books on technical analysis and cycles and MotiveWave charting software to facilitate your learning process. These can be found on our shop page (click on Shop to go to our recommendations).

Can you learn from newsletters?

There are multiple benefits of reading trading/investing newsletters:

  •  Exposure to Diverse Strategies: Newsletters offer a variety of viewpoints and trading styles. You will be exposed to different approaches, helping you find one that complements your risk tolerance and investment goals.

  •  A Stream of New Ideas: Newsletters can spark fresh ideas and open your eyes to potential opportunities you might have missed. This keeps your approach dynamic and adaptable to the ever-changing market.

  • Market Trend Awareness: Staying informed on current events and economic trends is crucial for trading success. Newsletters can be a valuable source of timely updates and analysis, helping you make informed decisions.

  • Expert Insights: Many newsletters are written by experienced traders and analysts. Reading their insights can provide valuable lessons and help you avoid common pitfalls.

For this weekend, I selected the following Free newsletters for you to explore (click on the newsletter title to subscribe). Subscribing to these newsletters will broaden your trading horizons and help us continue publishing the free version of Market Timing and Price Projections.

Remember: Do not blindly follow every recommendation. Use the information to form your trading plan and research before making trades. Try following a newsletter for several weeks. It takes time to get familiar with the style and learn how to extract useful information.
